Non-food item donations make a huge impact within our community. Most of these items are not only expensive, but are ineligible for SNAP and food stamps, making them even harder to come by.

At this time, we are able to accept non-perishable food donations, personal care items, paper or reusable bags, and cleaning products during donation hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 PM – 3 PM.

Items Currently Accepted

Personal Care Items

Many of our client families lack basic necessities, like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, and toilet paper. These items can be expensive and cannot be purchased with Food Stamps or SNAP. We gratefully accept new, un-used, and individually packaged toiletries.

Bags

In compliance with the City of Northampton Single Use Plastic Bag Ban, the Northampton Survival Center no longer provides single-use plastic bags for groceries.  We encourage clients to bring re-usable cloth bags for packaging their groceries. Donating re-usable cloth shopping bags, paper bags, or insulated bags helps our clients, helps the Center, and helps our environment.

Cleaning Products

These items also cannot be purchased with Food Stamps of SNAP and can be expensive, so a donation of these items makes a huge impact on the lives of our clients. We do not take any large cleaning supplies or tools like mops, buckets or brooms, but do accept cleaning products like laundry detergent, dish soap, and any household, kitchen or bathroom cleaners.

Paper Bags

The Center is always accepting donations of used paper bags in good condition for our distributions. As our services increase, so does the demand for support items like paper bags.

Items Not Currently Accepted

Egg Cartons

The Center sometimes needs donations of egg crates to package the eggs we receive for clients. As of 11/1/23, we are NOT in need of any egg cartons at this time.

Children's Books

Due to COVID-19, we are not currently accepting donations of children’s books, as we need to designate our storage space for all the food we are giving out. Please contact Forbes Library with any new or gently used books.

Cookbooks and Cooking Magazines

Due to COVID-19, we are not currently accepting donations of cookbooks and magazines, as we need to designate our storage space for all the food we are giving out. Please contact Forbes Library with any new or gently used books.
