In Memoriam – Mary Shannon

Florence, MA — Mary Lynne (Haines) Shannon died at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton MA, age 78, after a lengthy illness.

Her loss Is a sadness we share with those who knew her.

Mary was predeceased by her Husband Byram Shannon and her parents Harry and Dorothy Haines, Sarnia, ON, Canada

Survived by her son Patrick and step sons Michael and Douglas, sisters Heather,Jane as well as grandchildren Clementine, Cole, Joe, Jayson, Matthew, Zachary, Joshua; great grand daughter Serenity; nieces and nephews Christine (Craig), Kim (Adrian), Rob (Jen), Jessica (Bob), Luke (Maria), Charles (Jessie).

Mary graduated as a registered nurse in London Ontario. Nursed at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, NYC. As a true adventurer she then traveled as an airline steward. After meeting her beloved Byram, she settled in Florence MA. Mary’s nursing career in the Florence/Northampton area included working with her dedicated colleagues, Dr. Rich Rosen and the staff of Dr. Ron Miller. She always spoke of them as her second family.

Before her passing, Mary commented, “I want to remember all the kind and gentle people who walked with me on this incredible journey. I will miss all of you. That’s all I have to say.” You too Mary, will be missed by so many.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday April 20th at Czelusniak Funeral Home 173 North St Northampton, MA. From: 4 – 6pm. We invite you to share condolences for Mary Shannon in our guest book or at Czelusniakfuneralhome.com

After the visitation, a small gathering can meet back at the house 106 Brierwood Drive, Florence MA 6:30 – 8pm. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Northampton Survival Center, 265 Prospect St Northampton MA would be most welcome.
